Plant Dyed Makira Moon Wild Silk Wall Hanging in Sage Grey
Free US shipping over $150 · 30-day returns
Details
The full moon rising over Makira Natural Park, rendered in wild silk. The park sits just outside the artisan community that makes this, and the piece brings a genuinely spectacular local sight indoors at a scale that works over a bed or a desk.
The silk is Ceranchia, a wild moth species found only in Madagascar. The cocoons are sustainably harvested, ironed flat and sewn together, then dyed with plants grown in the artisans' own dye garden — this one with Foleramena, a local plant that gives the soft sage grey. The gold moon is the natural undyed colour of the silk itself, not a dye at all.
Comes with a bamboo pole, so it is ready to hang out of the box.
