Oaxacan Blessing Beads
Details
A strand of clay beads finished with a wool tassel, made to drape — over a stack of books, along a mantelpiece, off the corner of a shelf. Traditionally they are used for prayer and meditation, counted through the fingers, and are said to bring good fortune.
Made by a family of master potters in Oaxaca, Mexico. Each bead is rolled by hand and pit fired, then threaded onto handmade agave string and knotted. The tassel is wool, washed, carded and spun by hand on a drop spindle.
Materials
Pit-fired clay, handmade agave string, hand-spun wool.
Size
Approximately 18" long including the tassel.
Care
Wipe with a damp cloth. The wool can be hand washed in cold water if it needs it.
Please note
Pit-fired clay is fragile — handle the beads gently. Made by hand, so size, shape and colour vary from piece to piece.
