Extra Large Half Charred Wooden Bowl

The largest bowl the studio carves, made because customers asked for it: big enough for a family salad, a triple batch of cinnamon bun dough, or five kilos of fruit. Put it in an empty room and the room starts to feel furnished.

It is hand-carved from one solid piece of wood and charred on the outside, which gives it the opaque black surface and throws the grain into relief. CREATING COMFORT makes these in its studio in Ukraine and directs part of its proceeds to Ukrainian refugees inside the country.

Materials

Oak or ash wood, hand-carved from a single piece, charred on the outside, with an oil finish.

Size

Diameter 15.5-16", height 6".

Care

Hand wash with a mild dish soap and re-oil regularly with food-grade flaxseed oil or a beeswax wood conditioner. Avoid cooking oils such as olive or sunflower, which turn rancid in wood. Do not submerge or soak, which will warp the wood over time.

Made to order — allow one to four weeks, unless the piece is already in the US warehouse, in which case it ships right away. Each bowl is carved and charred by hand, so size, colour and grain vary from one to the next.
