Pure Beeswax Pillar Candles

Pillars poured by hand in small batches in Colorado, where Bluecorn has been making beeswax candles for over thirty years. The wax comes from US beekeepers and is only lightly filtered — enough to take out the particulate that makes a beeswax candle tunnel or burn with a weak flame, but not so much that it loses the golden colour or the honey scent.

Eight sizes, from a 2" × 3" that burns around 25 hours to a 4" × 8" that burns around 240. Available singly or in a six-pack.

Materials

100% pure, lightly filtered beeswax with a cotton wick. No petroleum, paraffin, soy or added fragrance.

Sizes are taken from the mould, and beeswax shrinks a little as it cools, so expect minor variation.

Care

Trim the wick to 1/4" before each lighting and burn on a heat-safe surface. To put one out without smoke, tip a little wax from the molten pool onto the wick.

Burn length depends on the diameter. A 2" pillar should burn no more than an hour at a time, or it drips. A 3" wants at least three hours; a 4" at least six — long enough for the pool to reach the edge. On the wider pillars, press the warm outer wall gently inward as the candle burns down, which uses up all the wax and lengthens the total burn. If a wick curls or leans, nudge it straight below the wax line, where it is strongest.
