Details

Jungle Mosaic is a rich blend of Robusta and Arabica, grown primarily under the shade of sweet, Ficus (fig) trees.

Behind the name: We’ve translated Jungle Mosaic to “Vanam Pookalam” in Malayalam, the predominant language of Kerala, India. Vanam means forest. Pookalam refers to a beautiful form of artwork made entirely of flowers and petals that Kerala is famous for. It’s like rangoli* but made entirely of flowers rather than colored powder. Vanam Pookalam then is our vibrant blend of shade-grown coffee beans from both evergreen and moist deciduous forests, of both Arabica and Robusta beans - a mosaic of majestic forests.

Community behind the blend: Fair Trade Alliance of Kerala & Soliga (B.R. Hills Tiger Reserve)

About Wayanad, Kerala: Nestled in the Western Ghats of Kerala, Wayanad is a lush, biodiverse region known for its rolling hills, dense forests, and sprawling coffee plantations. With its cool climate, rich soil, and high-altitude terrain, Wayanad has long been a hub for specialty coffee cultivation. Beyond coffee, Wayanad is home to tea and spice plantations, and historical sites like the Edakkal Caves, which contain some of India’s oldest petroglyphs.

About B.R. Hills Tiger Reserve: The B.R. Hills Tiger Reserve is a stunning wildlife sanctuary where the Eastern and Western Ghats* meet. It is home to a significant population of Bengal tigers, along with elephants, leopards, sloth bears, and over 270 bird species.
