Fresh Herb Bag
Details
Herbs are the easiest thing to buy with good intentions and find blackened at the back of the fridge on Tuesday. They want cool air and light humidity, and this small zip-top linen bag holds both — the flax weave keeps a little moisture against the leaves without letting them sit wet.
This is a damp-storage bag. Strip off anything yellowing, rinse if needed and shake off the excess, then mist delicate herbs or dampen the inside of the bag before loading them in loosely. It should feel lightly moist, never soaking. Keep it in the crisper or a cool part of the fridge and re-wet as it dries. Good for cilantro, parsley, dill, mint, chives and tarragon; basil is happier at room temperature in a glass of water. The linen is untreated — there is no antimicrobial finish on it.
